By Family First There are so many emotions that are tied into the very fibre of this true family mystery, that you find yourself truly cheering this writer on through every high and low as she and her legion of helpers unravelled the threads in ''The Daddy of all Mysteries.''The twists and turns of growing up without a father, during the 50’s in Liverpool, will at times bring you up short with the callousness of people, have you laughing out loud with the wonderful Scouser lingo and logic or tearful for people whom you have never met.Very few if any of us truly go through life alone; we call on friends, family, and strangers even, and look what you have accomplished by doing so! A true and fitting tribute to both your Mother and Father. Some call it the school of hard knocks. You wear your lessons with pride. It is, after all, in your genes.
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A Fascinating Journey By Mr Nobody The author has an extraordinary talent for story telling and this one is all the more amazing because it is true. Through the serendipity of the chance finding of a letter, the help received from obsessed strangers determined to help solve the mystery which leads her to discover the identity of her father, and the twists and turns along the way, this story has been told with humour tinged with obvious sadness and the occasional regret. The author also intersperses this very personal journey with fascinating historical insights which help explain the background to the time line of events. Well written and a real page turner, this will be of particular interest to family historians, and anyone who likes a good tale well told.Highly recommend this book.

By JBoy This is an inspirational true story - for anyone loving a wonderful romance, a touching (at times heartbreaking) story of love, loss, shame, hope and, finally, a kind of peace. However, The Daddy of all Mysteries contains great humour, warmth and affection, especially in passages where Jess Welby invokes the flavor of Liverpool with her clever capture of local speech!The Daddy of all Mysteries is also a most useful guidebook, detailing Jess' search for the father she never knew, and the network of individuals, online and in person, who came to her aid in assembling the fragments of the author's fascinating past. For those on a similar search for their own history, it is a must-have guide.
