About the Author Joan Xie was born in Shanghai, China in 1965. After graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University, she came to the United States to study. She obtained MBA and JD degrees in the United States. Now Joan Xie is a renowned attorney and partner in her own law firm in New York City. She is specialized in immigration law, real estate investment and art-related area of law. She is a avid world traveler and has been in over 30 countries. Her travel articles are often posted online. Writing poems both in English and Chinese, she developed an unique style. Most of her past poems were posted online. This is her first published book with 83 recent poems in Chinese language only. Zheng Lianjie was born in Beijing, China in 1962. He is a renowned contemporary artist currently living in America. His work has significantly advanced and influenced the development of Chinese contemporary art, rendering him one of the most conspicuous international contemporary artists of the current era. Lianjie Zheng, who resides and works in New York and Beijing, has produced a prodigious and varied artistic output spanning an array of genres and styles, including calligraphy, contemporary ink-painting, performance art, installations, video, sculpture, and photography. Zheng Lianjie’s work has been included in numerous exhibitions, symposia, and public-arts projects all over the world. Regularly throughout the 2000s, Zheng has been invited to deliver talks and has held exhibitions on Chinese culture and has had his work displayed at major institutions of higher learning, including Harvard and Columbia Universities. Zheng and his work have also been featured in major media organs including the New York Times, Art in America and The Asahi Shimbun. His works have been collected by world famous museums, galleries, universities, and several international private collectors. In 2012, Zheng Lianjie was named a United Nations Messenger of Peace in recognition of his distinguished achievement in the fields of art and charity.
