By OO If you want a very practical guide, with specific tools on how to reduce stress and achieve more, this is the book.Pendergraft shows us how to notice what is happening with our own thoughts, how to determine what patterns we would like to run instead, and then install those new patterns. Those who follow Anthony Robbins or NLP will definitely want to read this book and practice the tools in it. Perhaps the most important advancement with this book is its recognition of how emotions hewn our habits. When we attach emotion, the habits are re-inforced. Pendergraft allows us to take control of this aspect of our natural internal wiring by having us CELEBRATE when we notice we are engaging in a pattern we want to change (i.e. a Bad Habit). This way, we teach the mind that it is doing a good thing by noticing this pattern, and with the celebration, we interrupt the pattern, then we are in an emotional state (i.e. positive, instead of feeling bad for ourselves for noticing bad patterns) where we can then move to replace it with a new, more empowering pattern.The Un-Worried Brain is written to allow people to control thinking, focus, language and what they see and hear internally in order to make sure those internal patterns serve us to motivation, instead of getting us stressed, worried and largely immobilized with overwhelm. This is critically important for well being and achievement. Let's face it, stress, anxiety and overwhelm are not good for us, and are usually produced by our own internal patterns.Yet this book is more than a set of tools to help with stress, in that it is an actual formula for taking on ANY habit you want to replace with a new habit. You can use these tools for exercise, finances, relationships and other areas where ritual and pattern are key. The book is written in a way that utilizes various tools in the writing style and presentation itself to ensure the lessons and tools are absorbed by the reader. I will always remember this book every time I put on a pair of running shoes.It's a quick read, made mostly of exercises - so you can pick this book up and go through a few exercises, including Pendergraft's FIRE method any time you are inclined to make a lasting change with your habits!

He makes learning about how the brain and our habits easy to follow with the statement "neurons that fire together wire together" and the related explanation throughout the book. It is quick read with great exercises that can be used immediately to break patterns of negative behavior like worry and stress. There is more to this book than meets the eye. It is a must read for everyone who wants to break old unwanted habits and be more productive and live a happier life.

I read the whole thing on a flight and immediately started using the techniques. I've laughed my way past a pesky anxiety I hadn't been able to shake. Brad's techniques are fun and powerful, and that is best combination to overcome worry or anxiety. I'm begun sharing it with everyone I know.
