I would definitely recommend it over a Fodor's guide. It contains all the info you need to use your time and money wisely in Paris--great tips on things like why the Paris Pass is not a good value for most people compared to a PMP, and where to buy a bottle of water and a sandwich without paying tourist prices. That's the kind of insider info I want.The layout is fantastic--very easy to use! The color coding works great. The maps are judiciously placed, so you can get where you need to go, but you're not overwhelmed by too much "geography". The best tour book I've ever seen!

It is a thin volume that is easily carried with you as you explore Paris. It focuses on the key things you need to know to have a very enjoyable visit. The layout is also very easy to use as gives you both background information on things like where to stay and provides "neighborhood" overviews and itineraries. As the author states, this isn't the guide if you want volumes of information on general history or detailed information on every place of interest. It is great for planning a trip and planning individual days in Paris.
