I am an artist, although it took me many years to find the creative life I had always yearned to live. After a twelve-year marriage trying in vain to have a child, my depressed state of mind was beginning to take its toll. Only my paintings implored me to look inside and free up my emotional stalemate. What I found was not always pleasant, yet my persistence led to a brilliant painting mentor and then, by a twist of fate, to Greece. "What can I paint here?" I asked myself. I soon found the answer, and a bizarre epiphany in an olive grove gave me the knowledge I needed to change my life. But to leave everything, move to another country and face possible failure? It's probably tempting the Fates for a middle-aged woman on her own with minimal resources to believe she can still realize her dreams - and yet it's certainly worth a try!

About the Author Born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1948, Pamela Jane Rogers earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Painting at the UNC- Greensboro. She later studied at the New York Art Student's League, the Vermont Studio School and with renowned NC artist Jaquelin Jenkins. In 1990 Pamela's artistic, philosophical and cultural interests inspired her move to Poros Island, where she continues her visual and literary voyages with art.

I am more than overjoyed that Ms. Rogers has treated us to this beautiful book filled with her magnificent paintings of life! When I read her first book, Greekscapes, I was hungry for more. Pamela has given us a deep insight to not only her contagious and courageous love of life and Greece, but has now shared her love on canvas. This book is a most lovely addition to your library or a welcome display on your coffee table to remind you of how precious life is. I love both of these inspirational books and highly recommend them if you are planning on an adventure to Greece or if you have already been to this beautiful country. Thank you, Pamela, for sharing with us your brilliant and ever so talented pieces of art and words! Opa!

Clark A personal literary journey through adversity to fulfilment is a difficult tightrope to walk without falling into the abyss of self-obsession. In her book Greekscapes, American artist Pamela Jane Rogers skilfully navigates a literary course telling of her passage from an unfulfilled life in hometown America to the realising of her talents as an artist in Greece. And it is an artist’s eye she has brought to her writing, self aware enough to paint an honest picture in words and generous enough to share insights into her personal adventure through the confident brushstrokes of her storytelling. The writer comes across as likeable, her story chimes true and is ultimately inspiring. A book to savour.

It's a one-of-a-kind, life-affirming soul search through murky seas and sunshine, impossible choices and destiny, bravery and friendship. Even better is that it's illustrated with the author's own paintings, bringing a beautiful handmade feel to a lovingly crafted memoir. Whatever your journey in life, there's a lesson to be learned here about following your heart. And eating as much Greek salad as you can!
