By Judy Perdomo Jo Dibblee has been a friend of mine for almost ten years and so you might think that I am writing this review simply because she's my friend. Well let me tell you!! I had NO idea of the burdens Jo was carrying! Parts of her life story had been revealed to me in snippets over the years but I too had no idea of what she truly endured for so long. Running. Always running. Gaining success and then hiding. Moving to the next place, changing her name, starting anew. "Frock Off: Living Undisguised" is a triumph! For Jo! For women (and men) all over the world! The inspiration in this book makes it a must read! Share it with your book club. Gift it to women who can't afford to buy it but need it more than most of us will ever know. Tell your trusted counsellors and life coaches to incorporate it into their programs - the dramatic life experiences of this amazing woman who grew up in out of the way small towns amid huge dysfunction shows us that it doesn't matter where you come from. We all have the opportunity to change our circumstances and blossom into highly functioning moms, wives, business owners and change agents. All of us.

Though the weight of the story is most definitely felt, Jo tells the tale with ease (ease that no doubt comes from much wrestling with the story and the issues herself).Jo's history is rough, but she never leaves the reader any room to feel sorry for her. As in life, Jo's writing in this book keeps moving on, begging the reader to turn the next page, to keep going because there's MORE to come... and it's worth it! Identifying her own frocks and disguises throughout, Jo peels back the layers of masks and abuse, laying bare her heart and her journey.But ... There's no pity party here!There are, however, plenty of examples of what can happen when frocks take over your true identity, and even more encouragement to live authentically.Knowing Jo personally makes the story even more powerful - I've seen some of her defrocking efforts, and I see what living Frock-Free looks like in her life. She's the real deal!"Frock Off: Living Undisguised" has challenged, encouraged, and inspired me. Just the idea of a frock-a-licious life is very inviting, even if, like Jo has shared of her own defrocking, getting there won't necessarily be easy.We all wear masks and disguises. By Susan Ferreira Jo Dibblee's autobiography is a gripping and tragic story of ascendance from a tragic childhood of neglect and abuse, to being protected in the Canadian Witness Protection Program as a murder witness and living in hiding for 35 years. Throughout her years of hiding with numerous names, Jo becomes a successful business woman, confidant and advisor, helping women reveal themselves to be who they truly wish to be, conflicted by knowing she was living a hidden life and "wearing many frocks" of disguise.Freedom - or Frocking Off - came to Jo just a few years ago and for the first time, she has been able to tell her story and live the life she had always longed for and was always meant to live.A great read which comes with the realization you do not have to let your past define your future.
