There are so many children out there who go through this same type of thing and who honestly believe that this type of situation is alright when it is not. I truly believe this book could help change someone's life.

Fascinating and inspiring story By Rachel Horon We know that the Wright Brothers were successful in creating the first flight that made air travel possible. What people may forget is that there were a lot of mistakes along the way. Books like "The Inspirational Life Story of Wilbur and Orville Wright" takes the failures and shows what they did that led to their moment in Kitty Hawk. It also showed how they were thought differently than the others who were trying to invent their own machine with the use of a small wind tunnel rather than increase engine strength. They stayed focus on their goal and they persevered despite malfunctions and patent wars. They stayed positive with their goal in sight. They worked hard and used their skills in a new way. Most importantly, they found their success together. It is a quick book to read, but full of details and interesting facts. This is ideal for aviation enthusiasts and history readers alike.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Dream a big dream By softballgirl Wings to Mankind. I find it very inspiring. Also this short book is inspiring. I learned a lot about Wright Brothers from it, I knew that they invented a plane, but not much beside that. This book provides good insight into their life and work, from early childhood till the very end. Beside information about lige and work of Wright Brothers I also learned how determination, strong will and daring to dream is what you need in order to succeed. Great and original photos are giving additional value to this book.

A book that puts wings on fingertips By AJohn1776 There were some grammatical errors, but I enjoyed reading about Wilbur and Orville Wright, regarding their invention of the planes. I've always been captivated by their inventions, and fascinated about how something so large could stay in the air. I thought I had known much about the two brothers; however, after reading Watson's in depth research about their lives, have exposed a truth of my knowledge needed some growth. For starters, I never knew that the brothers went to high school, but never finished, let alone that Laurence Dunbar was one of the earliest clients and good friend. I found the book to be insightful, but while short is to the point and full of helpful information. I recommend that you purchase this book and read it for a short trip, or give it to a friend to read.

This edition has lots of updates that have been needed for quite some time. Certainly a valuable resource for both resident and attending levels. As far as text books go, this is easy to navigate from index to subject, and clearly updated to fit the needs of a current practitioner.

Great book but printing quality is poor By javaid Iqbal MD Excellent content which is updated up to 2015, very helpfulHowever printing quality of the book is poor, In order to save space, font size used has been smaller and ink color could have been darker than it is.I hardly use the published book I bought due to above and it being cumbersomeI have been using the kindle edition which I had also purchased , which is great.Because of the printing problems, I give it 3 stars, otherwise It would have been 5 starsOn the other hand, Victor and Adams current edition's printing quality and fonts used are much improved as compared to its previous editionsbut Merritt's quality has been poor for this edition.

My journey started when I was eighteen months old, in 1916, and continues right up into the 21st Century. It has made it possible for me to meet and work with people from all walks of the motion picture industry. It has taken me to many wonderful places around the globe. It has provided me with a career that extends from the silent days of films, called flicks, to the present era of blockbusters and high tech special effects movies. During this time, I have seen the silent films become talkies and talkies give way to surround-sound. I have seen picture shows go from black and white to color, from ten minute one-reelers to three-hour epics. I have seen film change from celluloid to digital and cameras go from hand-cranked to computerized. I have seen movies presented on a single screen enhanced by organ music give way to multiplexes and home theaters with THX. I have seen movies stars' careers rise and fall and the emphasis on celebrities in our culture. I have seen directors become as famous as their leading actors. I have seen the cost of a movie ticket go from 5 cents to over $10 and box office grosses now reported in the news along with the weather report. A lot has changed in the motion picture industry during my lifetime-good and bad-but one thing remained constant, my love of what I have done. Perhaps it was my destiny, a combination of fate and timing, an early start in the business and my adventurous attitude, that gave me an opportunity to work with some of the most talented individuals in the business and kept me an active part of the industry for so many years. But how do I share with you my story that spans nine decades? Perhaps, to keep things in perspective, let's go back in time on my magic carpet to the beginning.

Bamber Sadly Micky passed away recently and this book is a great testamenet to a magnificent film maker and just the most wonderful person.I cannot recommend this book too highly. I was honoured to be his 1st Assistant Director on 101 and 102 Dalmatians. HIs heart was as big as his talent.I hope people will buy this book and then lobby The Academy to honour his memory.

Finlayson This is a gem of a book by one of the truly distinguished "Old Asian Hands" in the fields of journalism and scholarship. What is so appealing in this book and what sets it apart from so many other memoirs is the delightful prose style employed by Mr. Sanders and the wide range of very interesting people he has known during his long life. As someone who has spent a great deal of his adult life studying China and the other nations in Asia, I found his personal insights into the personalities that contributed to 20th Century Asia, both well known and unknown, absolutely fascinating. As a young China scholar, I often relied on the very accurate intelligence gained by a Roman Catholic Jesuit priest named Father Ladany. During the 1960's and 1970's, Father Ladany produced what I consider to be the most accurate information on events then transpiring inside the People's Republic of China. Sol Sanders was a personal friend of Father Ladany his book is full of little vignettes about him that I had never heard before. His short, highly entertaining chapters, each devoted to one or two of the very interesting people he was know, are a pleasure to read and provide tidbits of information about these individuals you will not find anywhere else. I recommend this book highly.

The revelations of stories behind the story of so many events that have shaped the world are without equal. These are revealed in vignettes, challenging the reader to read just one more before turning off the lights. Each it its own is profound. And no preaching, either.In a world often portrayed as black-and-white, Sanders bores in on the nuances that add new meaning to events with an understanding that upsets conventional wisdom. He does not simply relate episodes; he distills them into more favorable concoctions. The consequence for me, at least, is that when I read or see the evening news, I wonder what the real story is that I'm not getting from conventional sources. The world needs more Sol Sanders to help us being overcome with propaganda and various agendas.

Excerpt from The Psychology of Dementia PraecoxTo Kracpelin belongs the credit of having introduced new life into psychiatry by his indefatigable study of his patients for long years, his keen clinical insight, and especially by an independence of thought which led him to fearlessly shatter the traditions of centuries as regards the classification of mental diseases. As a pupil of Wundt lie was able to apply new methods of clinical investigation drawn from psychology. As is well known he has brought together mania and melancholia as a single disorder under the title manic-depressive insanity. This conception, vigorously attacked at first, has probably come to stay. It is otherwise with his creation of dementia praecox, which is still strongly objected to in many quarters, chiefly because it seems to be a kind of waste basket into which arc thrown all forms of mental disease that cannot be tagged with another name. This disorder appears in so many guises that it is already divided into hebephrenic, catatonic and paranoid groups, and Kraepelin himself has intimated that in time it will be broken up into still further groups or types. It is his merit, however, to have placed before us this psychological species even if the outlines are gross and the details more or less obscure.In following Kraepelin we find that he only offers us a general and superficial view of the disease. From his description wc learn that the patients are peculiar in speech and actions, that they utter numerous senseless remarks, repeat meaningless words or syllables, and that now and then they commit foolish and impulsive acts, but no attempt is made to examine the nature and origin of these peculiar utterances and actions. When we review the cases described in Kraepelin's works we find that whereas most of them show hallucinations and delusions, these are not at all of the same content or nature; the verbigerations and mannerisms, too, differ in different cases. Prieto Lazily scanned with uncorrected application of text-recognition software, so: glaring typos, foot-note numbers are full size... basically a chore to read. By WIZARD D Any of the Princeton Bollingen editions are a piece of art as well as filled with wisdom. Any idiot can read Freud and think they understand the human mind, but Jung is humble and makes sure you can read Sanskrit, Latin, Greek, Arabic, Egyptian hieroglyphics, and Norse runes before you can understand him. What he has to say makes perfect sense, that there are no coincidences, only an illusion, and our minds and the material world are intimately connected through God. If you can master the philosophy you can rule the universe with God as your guide. Remember, you will need to know about Max Plank and his Quantum theories. Once you figure it out, E=mc Squared is useless because you will have the power to stop the process of fission and fusion through meditation in advance before it even starts. You will have the power to destroy evil at will.

Integrative Gestalt Practice (IGP) is a new approach to understanding and working with complexity and wholeness in people’s lives. About the Author Mikael Sonne is a psychologist specializing in psychotherapy and a supervisor at postgraduate level. He is the founder and director of the Aarhus Gestalt Institute and a co-founder of the Center for Integrative Gestalt Practice - IGP. Mikael is head of a postgraduate gestalt training program for psychologists and head of an educational program in personal leadership development for executives. In his practice as a psychologist, Mikael works with coaching, supervision, organizational development, and therapy. He is a guest lecturer on IGP in the Department of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences at Aarhus University. He is a leading member of the Danish gestalt therapy forum. He has a background as a psychologist in psychiatric settings, and has received gestalt training from Erving and Miriam Polster at the Gestalt Training Center in San Diego, from Natasha Mann, Barrie Simmons, Todd Burley, Gary Yontef and others, and from Bob Moore on meditation and energy work.Jan Tønnesvang is a psychologist and professor of psychology at the Department of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences at Aarhus University. He is head of the research unit for Integrative Psychology and the Network for Integrative Vitalising Psychology, Intervention and Bildung. He is a co-founder of the Center for Integrative Gestalt Practice – IGP, and a cofounder of the Integral Network, Integraldenmark.org. Jan is a trained gestalt therapist and combines his academic and practical interests in efforts to develop Integrative Gestalt Practice (IGP) and Integral Vitalizing Psychology (IVP) as a combined holistic approach to understand and work with human 'Bildung' processes. He has developed a strategy called theoretically-based practice development, aimed at developing vitalizing environments in educational, psychological, and organizational settings. In applying more recent research with respect for the essential in Gestalt, the book updates gestalt in a way that “gestalt jargon” is replaced with current psychological theory.An innovative and exiting addition to gestalt therapy theory is that the “field” is differentiated in a kaleidoscopic model: The quadrant perspective.At the Institute “Essens", which is a certified psychotherapy training institute, we have implemented this IGP approach in our education programmes.This book is a must if you are interested in psychotherapy. And you will benefit from reading it several times.

Our society works when each person reaches out to lighten someone else' load. The 99 stories in the book are simple and straightforward. The illustrations are beautiful and it has a consistent touching message. We are thrilled to have it in our library.

10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Very touching and powerful. By Kirk Ten minutes into this book I was crying. The stories are so powerful and affirming. They are short and easy to read if you only have a few minutes. My problem was that I couldn't put it down and had to keep going to the next story. In this world of hate and selfishness, this book reminds us that we are not only surrounded by "angels" who are constantly thinking of others, but we ourselves have that ability too. I have already ordered more books to give to my friends and neighbors and hope that all of us can be more like the stories in this book. This world will be a better place if we can.

We originally intended to just read a few, but we couldn't stop because the stories were so compelling. Very well written, and each of the pictures are worth way more than a thousand words. To people who can't resist reading or watching the world news, but don't like the discouraging aftertaste, this book is the perfect way to cleanse your palate an restore your faith and hope in the good in the world.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Nothing but praise for him sharing this story of his life. By Shane Applaud after applaud on this bio/memoir. I think that it takes a very great person to share their story of parts of their life and Tj Weeks did just that. A bio/memoir is not an easy task to write about because of the past or re-living the moments that took place. It was hard hitting and made me feel much sympathy for him while other times feeling 'Hell yes'. This was a purchase I had been waiting for for some time as it gives insight on one of my favorite authors and the bulls***, love, honesty and so much more that he had to go through. Would highly recommend this book if you are a fan of him and even if you are not, I would suggest this being a great starting point. Want to see a man with struggles and succeed as he has through all of what he had to go through, then this is a book for you. Thank you Mr. Weeks for sharing a part of your life and I appreciate you in doing so as it is not always easy.

This is one of the best autobiographies I have read in my life.Frank is brutally honest, holding nothing back. He takes you on a journey that you will most likely want to stop; but don't. Frank lives a daily struggle against his addictions and his book gives you an idea of what it is like to be an addict. Frank's book is for everyone because it is full of short stories; some will make you laugh, some will make you uncomfortable, and some will make you cry, but they are all real. There is a very good chance when you finish your journey with Frank, you will come out a different person.

By becky brand HIGHLY recommended!...Mr Rosas has captured, thru the eyes of his Dad, & many who served alongside him, the chaos, fear, heartbreak & comraderie that WAS Vietnam...but also the humor that was IMPERATIVE for the troops to possess to survive the daily weight of ondering if they might be the next to die. EXCELLENT read, & photos in nearly EVERY page!..well done!

Great photos of Vietnam during the height of the war. That was a tough period in our lives as I was a flight attendant flying into the war zone for 6 years. Tough!
